But as a fun novelty for those curious about Spydercos it's hard not to resist trying them. Also the steel used on the Chi-Spydies is questionable, do not believe you are getting S30V. ![]() I've had a couple PM2 clones and it's the same, overly tight pivot and the best you can do is an unsatisfying stiff action or blade play, your choice. ![]() Perhaps I should say that it's the compression lock in conjunction with the bushing pivot system or stepped pivot, depending on the model, that allows for a drop-shut smoothness that you just won't get on a fake Spydie. I will say this, you owe it to yourself to get a real Spyderco compression lock knife to appreciate how much better it functions in terms of smoothness. That said, the quality for what you pay is remarkable in terms of looks and overall construction. Unfortunately there is a very real problem of people selling counterfeits and it casts a dark shadow on even the legit Chinese knife world. Most of the fake Spydercos come in a Spyderco box and have full markings on the blade like the original.which is something I don't like. Would certainly recommend, I may pick up another in a different color. No changes to the blue G-10 after sanding.įor $15 this knife is an absolute steal for fans of Spyderco (who dont mind buying a clone of their design) and wharncliffe blades. When I disassembled the knife for cleaning I hit the edges with some 200 grit sand paper and they are very comfortable now. Only complaint is the inside edges of the scales (facing toward the pillars) were fairly sharp on arrival. Its formidable four-inch (102mm) Wharncliffe blade is hollow ground for superior edge geometry and features a fully accessible Round Hole for swift, ambidextrous, one-handed opening. The liners are nested true to the original and the screws have a blue loctite-like solution on them making the construction very solid. The YoJumbo builds on that success, scaling the design up by over 20 percent and refining its ergonomics to accommodate a wider range of hand sizes. G-10 scales are well made and colored nicely, the seller has MANY options. Steel is listed as S30V, Im skeptical given the price of the knife, but so far the blade has performed well in edc taks (I havent done any thorough tests with it or anything.) Blade is sharp out of the box and has held decently well (as best you would expect.) The shape of the blade is phenomenal for edc tasks, all the power of the blade goes to the tip, making slicing and opening things a breeze. Has a tiny bit of side to side blade play, I loosened the pivot screw a touch to allow the action to move smoothly (I dont have any oil/lubricant on hand which may help.) Lock up is good, has a compression lock true to the original that seems strong enough for my edc tasks (opening letters, boxes, blister packs, etc). ![]() It is "flickable" and centering is right down the middle. After a quick break down and cleaning, much improved. The action was terrible out of the box, the worst action Ive ever felt in a knife. Overall size and weight is about 1:1 of the original as far as my measurements go (not busting out calipers). I know many people are adverse to clones, and I understand (please dont flame on me.) However, for those who may be interested, here is a quick review of a Spyderco Yojimbo2 clone that I recently acquired:
